Our invitation to share his experience with the participants of the “Theatre in Advance” festival was also accepted by the actor Juliyan Petrov. The topic he chose for his workshop is “The juxtaposition of the body within the parameters of Shakespeare’s text”.
Juliyan Petrov graduates from NATFIZ “Chr. Sarafov” in the class of professor Krikor Azaryan. He receives the guild’s recognition when he is still a student – in 2004 he is acknowledged as the best actor of the International student festival in Blagoevgrad. A year later he is chosen for the best actor in the class of 2001-2005.
Juliyan has played more than 30 roles. Within the last few years he takes part as an actor in the following projects: “Chintzano” – staged at “Sfumato”, played more than 30 times; „Тунелджии” – played more than 30 times in alternative spaces including the Youth Theatre “N. Binev”; “Four rooms” – project, released in “Sofia” theatre, played more than 90 times; “Dead Dagmar or the little match girl” – “Sfumato” theatre, “Eating the apple” – producer Ida Daniel, studio „Съспейшъс“.
The actor has more than 10 roles in Bulgarian and foreign movie productions, he also takes part in commercials and short films. The last production he participates in, is the Bulgarian movie “One more dream”. At the moment he is rehearsing Estragon from “Expecting Godo” and studies Theatre Production at NATFIZ (master degree).
Juliyan Petrov agreed to take part as a judge in the competition part of the festival’s programme. He is co-founder of the theatre school at Youth Theatre “N. Binev” and has a six-year experience as a tutor. He is now establishing his own school of drama. This is why we believe his mark, given in his quality of both a teacher and an artist, will be of great value to the young artists.
